Membership
Membership in the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn is open to those who are interested in practicing the system of Druidical magic and initiation taught in The Celtic Golden Dawn by John Michael Greer, and who are willing to abide by the spirit and the letter of the obligations of the Ovate and Bardic Grades as given in the same book.
Please note the following:
The Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn is a magical order, not a church or a religious organization. It is specifically for people who are interested in studying and practicing the tradition of Druidical ceremonial magic taught in The Celtic Golden Dawn.
The Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn does not offer ordination, or any other credentials that will permit you to perform marriages or officiate in other religious ceremonies.
The Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn does not have a prison ministry, nor any kind of program to work with incarcerated people. It is impossible for an incarcerated person to do most of the work of our curriculum.
The Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn does not teach the religion or the traditions of any of the ancient Celtic peoples. Its teachings descend partly from the Druid Revival of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and partly from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a nineteenth-century magical order.
The philosophy and symbolism used by the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn, like those of the Druid Revival tradition generally, come from Welsh rather than Irish sources.
The work of the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn is based on the Lesser Rituals of the Pentagram. Magical systems based on the Sphere of Protection are not compatible with the curriculum of the DOGD.
Whether or not you have Celtic ancestry is irrelevant to our work, and will not be considered in assessing your application for membership.
If you want to study Druidry as a religion, if you are looking for a church that will ordain you to the ministry, if you are interested in ancient Celtic traditions, if you want to work with traditions of Irish origin, if you are cyurrently practicing a form of magic that uses the Shphere of Protection, or if you object to studying Druidical ceremonial magic in an order that admits people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, please do not apply for membership in our order. You will not find what you want in the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn, and should pursue your interests elsewhere.
To apply for membership electronically, please send all required information via email to our email address, along with a payment of the membership fee via PayPal. The payment address to use on PayPal is our email address, and the currency should be US dollars.
